Monastery – Maulbronn Germany (HDR)

The story of this photo:
This was shot in the Monastery of Maulbronn in Germany, one of UNESCO’s world cultural heritage sites. It was founded in 1138.

Take a look at my “HDR Cookbook”! It contains some more information on my techniques.

How it was shot:
> Handheld (camera stabilized by leaning against a column)
> Three exposures (0, -2, +2 ev) autobracketed and merged to get and HDR
> Camera: Nikon D90
> Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm 1:3,5-5,6G ED VR

How it was tonemapped:
> Photomatix (Detail Enhancer)

How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in GIMP
> Adjusted the levels to get more contrast
> Increased saturation (all, yellows)
> Noise reduction using the anisotropic filter of the G’MIC plugin
> Sharpening using unsharp mask filter
