The Problem

The vast majority of all people get this wrong. They start in Lightroom and send their image to Photoshop at some point to do some more complex work. But they do this in ways that do not allow them to change any of their Lightroom edits after this step.

Likewise, you can (and should) transfer your images back to Lightroom after you finish your Photoshop work. Again, if you do this the wrong way (which most people do) you won’t be able to go back and change the edits you applied in Photoshop.

This way you are setting up barriers and obstacles in your workflow that make you much less effective and slower than you need to be.

The Solution

This is terrible because there actually is a fully non-destructive workflow that lets you go back through the different stages of your editing all they way to the initial import into Lightroom and change any edits you every applied at any time.

This is what I teach you in this course as we edit two different photos from start to finish and apply this workflow.

I will show you:

• How to set up both Lightroom and Photoshop to establish the fully non-destructive workflow
• How to apply initial edits in Lightroom and which edits are adequate at this stage.
• How to transfer your images to Photoshop for digital blending work and other complex tasks that cannot be done in Lightroom.
• How to send your images back from Photoshop to Lightroom in a way so that you can reopen them with all their layers and adjustments in Photoshop at any time to continue or change your Photoshop work.
• How to add a final layer of finishing touches in Lightroom on top of your initial Lightroom edits and your Photoshop edits.
• How to go back at any time and get full access to all your initial edits in Lightroom, your Photoshop work and your finishing touches in Lightroom.

Why is this so damn cool?

Because you will never have to make any terminal decisions ever again. Anything can be changed later on. This makes your workflow incredibly flexible. It lets you edit with peace of mind. And it makes you much more efficient and quicker.

Why aren’t all people doing it the right way by default?

Because they don’t know about it. The ‘default’ way of interoperation indicated in Lightroom and Photoshop is breaking any non-destructive workflow. I don’t know why Adobe does not advertise this better, but the fact of the matter is that even well-known photography instructors use the obvious sub-optimal workflow in their courses, ebooks and YouTube tutorials. I see this again and again.
