This is a shot of the main bar on the AIDAbella cruise ship. This place really looks like a space ship. For a moment, I thought about calling the photo “Ten-Forward”. But I thought this may be a bit misleading. Well “Happy Hour” may not be that much better! 🙂 But it is fitting: Either such a place makes you really happy or really aggressive. I was happy!

How it was tonemapped

  • HDR creation and tonemapping using Photomatix version 3.1 (Detail Enhancer)
  • Saved as 16bit TIF

How it was post-processed

  • Post-processing was done in Photoshop
  • Topaz Adjust on the entire image to get back the colors and the details [details]
  • Topaz Denoise [details]
  • Saturation and curves layers on the yellow parts
  • Curves layer on yellows in the ceiling (enhanced the reflective look)
  • Saturation layer on the red parts
  • Saturation layer on the metal parts (slight desaturation)
  • Photo filter on the metal parts (adding a bit of blue tones)
  • Curves layer on the metal parts (enhanced the reflective look)
  • Distortion transformation to get everything straight
  • Some cropping
  • Vignette effect using a masked fill layer [details]
  • Sharpening using the smart sharpen filter

    Great composition and post-processing, very lucky no one was at the bar when you took the picture (I assume you took the picture early in the morning), looks very futuristic.

      thanks! This photo was taken basically in the middle of the day were the bar is actually not open.
